Sales and activity were weak last Friday to end an overall quieter week in the eastern spruce lumber market. Uncertainty on whether tariffs would be imposed February 1st on Canadian lumber exports kept many normally from buying. Few wanted to chance having to pay up to 25% more on purchases if they go into effect. Stateside reloads naturally saw the bulk of the business transacted. Prices were relatively unchanged as demand was lite and available mill offerings remained low.
