It was an active start to the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. Demand and inquiry were vibrant. The Canadian mills that could deliver product across the border prior to potential tariffs on March 1st were busy. The mills able to do so though were few. The ones that could, took the business they wanted and then stepped back from the market. Activity quieted as opportunities faded from them. Clients also drifted away in the hope that more lumber would appear. It could only be a hope, as a lack of overall supply continues to overshadow the market.
