Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

Sales and activity were less than robust in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. Demand was apparent but the difficulty was finding product from the mills to trade with. Many had contractual commitments to fulfill, or they were simply oversold on what they did have available. Canadian lumber exports that could not cross the border prior to March 1st were subject to a potential 25% tariff. Clients did not find this an option to make a commitment to. Many paused, unsure what to do next.
