Confusion and uncertainty over tariffs on Canadian lumber exports disrupted activity and heightened tensions in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. It kept mills, clients, and traders off balance. Many were handcuffed as to what to buy or quote, how much to have or not. Most agreed that they wanted this whole affair behind them. Either have tariffs or not but decide and move forward. Allow the market to get back to its basics. Let the laws of supply and demand determine pricing and not let it be subject by outside influences.
