Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

Demand and activity eased last Friday to end the week and the month in the eastern spruce lumber market. Uncertainty surrounding the implementation of a tariff, due to start tomorrow, had the mills on the defensive with prices or simply off the market. Clients gravitated to distributors with stateside inventories or mills that would sell without a caveat of a tariff to cover current needs. Many also held off purchases. Prices moved higher for the week on 2x4 but were largely unchanged on the other widths.
