Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

The recent implementation of the 25% tariff on Canadian lumber exports hampered activity and sales in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. There was better participation from mills and clients but more to gather information and see what the effects on pricing the tariff was bringing. There were wide disparities among the mills and distributors looking to sell, making clients check their sources more thoroughly before making a commitment. Prices were up significantly on most items but not to the full extent of the tariff.
