The drama surrounding the 25% tariff on Canadian lumber exports continued last Friday to end the week in the eastern spruce lumber market. Rumors on Friday afternoon that the previously announced delay could come quicker had the mills retract from the market and not sell. The tariff became a reality on Tuesday increasing prices on all items by varying degrees. This was followed by an announcement on Thursday to delay the implementation of it until April 2nd, lowering mill asking prices, only to be followed by Friday’s theatrics. The new week starts once again with much uncertainty and a lack of direction.
