Strong demand sparked an active day in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. Distributors were aggressive in what they wanted to sell yet more defensive on items they had much less of. They also had the certainty of product and shipments that clients sought out. Most Canadian mills were not active participants in the market as a potential tariff on their lumber exports slated to commence April 2nd handicapped their efforts to sell. Many were not willing to absorb a 25% tariff if implemented.
