Trading in the eastern spruce lumber market returned to some sort of normalcy on Friday after a tumultuous week in the market. The concern over a tariff on Canadian lumber imports dissipated as the deadline on implementation passed with no formal announcement concerning them by the administration. Many Canadian mills were back on the market with items to sell. Published numbers were a guide for them as the forces of supply and demand began to influence trading levels and the direction of the market. The Montreal Wood Convention begins this week with many mills and traders away most of the week.
