Activity and sales turned up a notch in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. Strong demand kept traders busy and focused on where supply was. There were inconsistencies on what was available from the mills and noticeable price differences among them. Distributors keyed on the items they had in inventory, adjusting prices when and where necessary. There were indications that retailers and manufacturers were busier than they have been and going through product faster than expected.
