Traders found it challenging getting orders in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. Demand was moderate but not up to expectations. Firm offers were the rule of the day. Getting them took perseverance. Traders looked to the mills for coverage but found them more resistant to counters than what was hoped for. Distributors though were more aggressive and receptive, taking the orders, they could. Some clients though kept away from the market, concerned with their own inventories and future business.
