It was a sluggish day of trading in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. It was difficult to get retailers interested in buying something. Most have been busy, but they are not in a rush to buy as prices continue to fall, and most can get product quickly from anxious distributors. It was also a struggle to gauge where prices were on any given item. There were too few transactions to support a consistent trading level. There were some offers given to the mills but nothing that set a tone or inspired better activity.

I’d say the Red Oak Cherry and Walnut markets are pretty similar. Too much uncertainty and kneejerk reactions.
