Demand and activity were not as vibrant yesterday in the eastern spruce lumber market. There were stark differences in quotes creating doubt and influencing potential purchases. There were also needs that warranted prompt attention and delivery, keeping distributors busy. Prices continued their slide, primarily on the higher grades. The lower grades were harder to source and were less susceptible to price deterioration. The mills did what they could to resist counters, but they remained focused on moving the items they wanted to sell.
