Demand and activity were slow to start in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. Traders did their homework to find what was available and where prices were on various items. They found less than expected from the mills with varying prices among them. It made for sourcing inquiries challenging with guesswork as to where prices should be. Wholesale quotes were competitive and questionable. Distributors though held sway with the market, driving prices on the inventory they wanted to sell.
