Activity in the eastern spruce lumber market kept up its recent momentum yesterday with continued demand from retailers, manufacturers, and distributors. The mills sold well, having much less available to offer by day’s end and going off the market on several key items. Wholesalers covered orders or tried putting them together, often at the expense of profits. Distributors kept taking orders, focusing on lowering accumulated layers of inventories while filling in voids that have crept up recently in them.
