Demand and activity were selective and mixed yet ongoing in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. Clients were in the market for a variety of items, but the mills were very limited on what they could supply. Doing business with them was more difficult. Higher mill asking prices were also a factor. Retailers turned to reload inventories to source and supply needs. There was also a growing concern noted that supply will lessen and not expand from the mills over the next several weeks, adding pressure on distributors to cover demand.
