Activity was steady, at times hectic, to start the new week in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. Although demand was inconsistent, a lack of supply from the mills kept traders very busy sourcing product from them. There were few options found, especially in conjunction with published prices. Attention turned to distributor inventories to fulfill needs, often paying higher than expectations to get the coverage wanted. The Canadian mills are off today celebrating Canada Day, with lite staffing at various offices.
