Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

Activity was still robust in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday, but demand eased with fewer orders being transacted. A lack of supply from the mills along with higher asking prices on many items did not help matters. Clients were also not as reactive, wanting to check as many sources as possible before deciding on potential purchases. There were fewer mill options for them to turn to as several eastern Canadian mills were bumping up against their annual summer shutdowns that begin later next week.
