Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

Activity eased on Friday to end a solid week of demand and orders in the eastern spruce lumber market. There was business transacted but not at the pace seen on the previous days of the week. Prices were higher and items to sell from the Canadian mills were lacking. Annual summer shutdowns commence for many eastern Canadian mills later this week with most returning to production in early August. Higher duties on Canadian lumber exports commence next week with additional duties coming early next month.
