Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

Demand and activity were slow to start in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. Both livened up and gained momentum during the day making it a successful day for traders. The mills had product to sell but increasing duties had many Canadian mills handcuffed and quoting higher prices. Clients turned to distributor inventories to supplement needs and just in time deliveries. Several Eastern Canadian mills begin their annual summer shutdowns later this week with production returning in early August.
