Activity in the eastern spruce lumber market tried to keep up the pace it has seen the last couple of days, but sluggish demand and higher prices quelled efforts to do so. Several eastern Canadian mills will be shut down the next couple of weeks with most trying to estimate what prices to quote on the items they will have available when they return. There was also much uncertainty surrounding when the higher anti-dumping duty will take effect. There is a consensus that the market has incorporated much of this increase in many of the items already.
