Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

Demand and activity were unremarkable on Friday to end last week in the eastern spruce lumber market. A lack of supply from the mills did little to inspire either. Several eastern Canadian mills began their two-to-three-week annual shutdowns with limited shipments occurring. Production returns for them in early August with a full slate of items to sell, albeit at higher asking prices due to the anti-dumping duty increasing prior to their return. Some items rose in price last week, but many remained unchanged.
