Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

Trading was difficult in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. Demand was lite and wholesale quotes were highly competitive. Some mills had product to sell but prices varied and were higher in many cases due to the impending increase in the anti-dumping duty. There were also fewer eastern Canadian mills to source from as they are on their annual summer shutdowns. Distributors were often more competitive than the mills and held sway on taking orders. There was little to excite traders or influence clients to buy.
