Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

Demand and activity continued to lag in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. Higher Canadian mill asking prices due to the increase of the anti-dumping duty helped quell buying interest from various entities. There were also fewer choices for traders to source product from as several eastern Canadian mills are amid their annual shutdowns until early August. Distributors were the primary source for many clients to cover needs and were often cheaper than the mills in many situations.
