Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

Demand was steady in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday, but it was again less than expectations. Traders were hoping that it would pick up and be stronger than it has been. Uncertainty on duties and tariffs along with current economic conditions have hindered confidence and better activity. Eastern Canadian mills returning from a two-week hiatus on production were cautious. They were unsure how to price the items they had available to sell despite having lite to no order files to start with. Prices varied widely in the marketplace frustrating traders.
