Demand was weak and activity was lite on Friday to end last week in the eastern spruce lumber market. There was little buying interest. Prices that have been gradually increasing over the last several weeks turned lower. Eastern Canadian mills have been struggling to incorporate the increase in the anti-dumping duty in their prices that took effect in early August. Sales have been sluggish for them as their production continues to ramp up after their annual summer shutdowns in late July.
