Demand cooled easing transactions in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. Soft prices kept buyers at bay, waiting to see how the market shakes out. The eastern Canadian mills were also more involved with the market. They lowered prices trying to induce business. There was varying success depending on the item, the mill and of course the price. Not all the mills were as receptive, reluctant to pay the higher duties recently implemented. They do not have order files, and many are able to deliver product next week.
