Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

There were no dramatics to end last Friday in the eastern spruce lumber market. Demand was weak and activity lite. It seemed many had taken early leave for the long holiday weekend and from a lackluster market. Prices were down throughout the week seeing little support. The Canadian mills struggled to sell as they tried to cope with higher costs in a soft market. The U. S. mills stayed in step with the market and lower prices but also had their difficulties getting orders. Distributors fared a little better attracting business but far below expectations.
