Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

The eastern spruce lumber market ended on a quieter note last Friday to end the first week of the month. There was news that some eastern mills were reducing production over the next few months, but this did little to sway buying habits. Supply continued to outpace demand pressuring prices to go lower but not to the extent that some may have expected. The mills were more resistant to counters despite their struggles to sell. Incorporating the higher duties on their lumber exports to the states was a major obstacle for the Canadian mills.
