Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

Demand and activity eased yesterday in the eastern spruce lumber market. Rising prices helped stall the momentum seen earlier this week. The Canadian mills had reached their capacities of getting trucks and cars shipped over the border before the 10% tariff goes into effect October 14th. Most of them quoted higher prices on product that ships thereafter. Distributors keyed in on plugging holes and reevaluating their inventories. They became more cautious and conservative in selling many of the items they had available.
