Activity rose to new heights yesterday in the eastern spruce lumber market. It was a very busy day all around for mills, distributors and more importantly traders. Prices were on the move with many items up by double digits this week. Buyers gravitated to products that lagged the market in price. The feeling was that it was better to have it now than try and chase after it tomorrow. Mill order files are a solid week with many out to the end of the month on deliveries. Distributors became more protective of their inventories.
