Demand was lighter and transacted orders were fewer than trader expectations in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. Restricted supply in the market along with higher asking prices curbed enthusiasm among clients and potential purchases. The mills had product to sell but there were disparities on what they had and wide differences on the prices many were asking. For the Canadian mills, a 34% duty and a 10% tariff weighed heavily on the items they would offer and the prices they would ask for.
