Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

Demand and activity were deceptively better in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. Retailers have been busy, filling in more often and keeping traders on their toes. There had been a pause in the upward movement of prices this week, allowing a better look as to what the mills had. There was much less seen than what was hoped for from them, leading to fewer opportunities along with higher prices than thought. Distributors filled in holes as best as possible, paying up to get what was needed, pushing their prices up as a result.
