Demand and activity rallied yesterday in the eastern spruce lumber market. A wide range of clients stepped up to fill in needs and to bolster inventories making it a busy day for traders. Distributors had the most success with the volume of orders transacted as they had a greater diversity of products and were more in line with current prices in the market. The Canadian mills, saddled with paying duties and tariffs to export lumber to the U.S., were priced higher on many items and were limited participants in the action.
