Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

There was better demand in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday leading to increased sales. Deals from distributors and some mills, focused primarily on 2x4, prompted the better activity. The emphasis was more on the shorter lengths as 16’ material remained in high demand and more resilient against lower prices. The mills had some 16’s but they also realized to need for them, often using them to influence selling the other lengths. There was also more interest on forward pricing from various sources, suggesting better demand and activity to come.
