Orders were more challenging to obtain in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday despite good demand and high activity. Prices varied widely creating confusion and indecision on purchases. Items in 2x4 were the most vulnerable, influencing pricing on the other widths. Supply was evident from both the mills and distributors giving buyers more options to ponder. Competition was strong as a result with some wholesalers seemingly taking chances on garnering orders while others had the inventory to drive and support their selling efforts.
