Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

There was very little demand and few sales to end last week in the eastern spruce lumber market. Activity was quiet. Lower published prices had buyers off the market and holding off potential purchases. There was time to review positions and assess needs. 2x4 was more vulnerable and better in supply than the other widths. It pressured the other widths and dragged the market down. The mills struggled to sell production. More Canadian mills became interested and involved in the U.S. market, adjusting their prices accordingly to compete.
