Sales were more sluggish than robust in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. Demand was steady but lagged increasing supply, pressuring prices to go lower. Distributors stayed aggressive to lowering inventories adjusting their prices accordingly. The mills also played along but were limited on the variety of products they could sell. Both have more supply than they are comfortable with considering the current demand in the market. It has been difficult for many traders to navigate through these challenging times but those that persevere will ultimately succeed.
