Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

Demand was steady and interest to buy was strong to start the week in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. Lower prices and ample mill supply were a draw and an incentive for clients wanting to cover needs. There were opportunities to be had in 2x4 but there were much fewer that could be found in the other widths. Demand and activity were more focused on 2x6 where mill availabilities were not as prominent and often priced higher than expectations. Distributors who have been more aggressive sellers, turned more protective of supply and defensive in price as their inventories lessened.
