Demand was strong and activity was vibrant in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. Retailers were in the market to buy. Eyes were on the mills to find coverage. Many clients though fell short of finding what was wanted or the lower prices they expected to pay. There was more disappointment than success. The mills had some things they were willing to bargain with but in many instances, they were not the items most were looking for. Distributors had the wider variety of products wanted but prices were not at levels that drew much interest, limiting overall transactions on the day.
