Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

Business in the eastern spruce lumber market ended last week at a slower pace compared to the previous days of the week. Demand was moderate during the week as prices trended lower. Retailers filled in needs, not inspired to buy more than what was called for. Distributors were the favored source to fill in those needs. The mills were reluctant to trade at the lower numbers with many being selective on items they would sell. Some of them will be taking extra vacation time to close out the year. Their hope is the new year will bring increased demand that will help prices appreciate.
