Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

Mill direct options continued to lessen for clients in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. Although mill supply was still high, the ability to deliver by them before their holiday shutdowns decreased. With less than two weeks to do so, the mills were selective with what they would sell or offer out. Although pressure on the mills to take counters was high, they largely fell on deaf ears. There were reports that the low prices sparked some wholesale speculation on key items, especially if it involved delivery in the new year. Confidence seemed to be overtaking pessimism in the market.
