There was movement afoot in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. Multiple inquiries on several cars and trucks invigorated demand in the market. Prices firmed with orders transacted and speculation became prominent among various sources. Confidence grew that prices would not go lower as the mills and distributors continued to bleed cash and reserves. Some mills went off the market, refusing to sell at current prices. Others were willing to take orders and ship into the new year but limited the items they would offer and sell.
