Activity quieted down last Friday to end the week in the eastern spruce lumber market. Less mill supply and higher asking prices deterred activity and sales. The Canadian mills were less enthused to sell their wares at current market prices. They are at levels not seen in years, after factoring a combination of 44% in duties and tariffs they are currently paying to bring product to the states. Although supply was evident in the market, there was a shift seen as much of the demand observed last week went unfulfilled. Clients were not as successful in finding the items they had hoped.
