Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

Demand differed on an active day to start the last full week of the year in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. There were some looking for deals, wanting to buy at the lower prices seen lately in the market. There were others looking for quick delivery to fill in holes they had developed in their inventories. Distributors held the keys on the quick deliveries albeit at higher prices. The mills were cheaper for delivery in the new year, but selections were few. They were not as anxious to take orders knowing that there was no money to be made on taking the business at current market prices.
