The lack of available supply from the mills hindered transactions in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. Low prices influenced and prevented the mills in selling. They were either off the market or offering just what they could ship this year. Most were not interested in taking orders for the new year especially at current published prices. Some tried but asked higher numbers. Distributors were a factor in the day’s activity, supplying quick and urgent needs. They also held their ground on pricing and heavily resisted taking orders at the lower numbers bantered around in the market.
