Strong demand led to a very busy day in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. There was a rush to get orders and upcoming needs covered ahead of the upcoming work shortened Christmas week. Prices moved higher on many items as options of product availability quickly lessened with mills shutting down for the holiday break. Some are taking extended downtime because prices are so low, and overall demand is weaker than expected. Distributors and wholesale positions will be the primary source for clients to care for needs over the next few weeks.
