It was a quieter day in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. Demand was lite with activity centered around tying up loose ends before leaving for the Christmas holiday. There were some last-minute needs that warranted attention exemplifying the importance of traders to be available and working. Some mills did see some business, but transactions were limited to the few items they had for sale. Many mills shied away from selling into the new year as prices were substantially lower than breakeven levels.
