Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

Limited availability from eastern mills helped push prices higher on many items yesterday and kept sales on the lighter side. Buyers intensified their search in alternative species to supplement the lack of eastern spruce but found few options. Distributors pressed the mills for material as increased takeaway pressured them to replenish inventories more quickly than anticipated. The offerings the eastern mills did have, were restricted to certain tallies and products with little flexibility. Some mill shipments now stretch into early November.
