Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

It was another solid day of activity and sales in the lumber market yesterday. There was heavier reliance on distributor’s reloads on many of the orders transacted, as eastern mills simply did not have the equipment to deliver quick enough for the products needed. Those who could wait were able to take advantage on some of the lower priced items the mills had to offer. Eastern mills did not have as many discounted items available by day’s end, as new orders taken and production lapses coming due, limited what they could offer for December.

Are there any typical year-end dynamics to consider here?

there are retail lumberyards and manufacturers that will pare down inventory for year end, for tax purposes but otherwise once December hits, thoughts are on getting first quarter needs covered. Prices traditionally move higher in December and activity is good.

Consistent with an expected price rebound for this december, according to many of the experts here. There is still some controversy. Right @Michael_Haas
